Now days in India women are not safe,at first the domestic violence here they tortured by their loved ones.after that comes the society which is a most horable thing in india, they always try to find a fault in a girl.They doesn't came for help in her bad time,but if the girl want to be independent then they started to criticize her.they are dengrous then a rapist because the rapist harm the girl once but society,in every step they harm the girl.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau of India, reported incidents of crime against women increased 6.4% during 2012, and a crime against a woman is committed every three minutes.[1][2] In 2012, there were 244,270 reported incidents of crime against women, while in 2011, there were 228,650 reported incidents.[1] Of the women living in India, 7.5% live in West Bengal where 12.7% of the total reported crime against women occurs.[1] Andhra Pradesh is home to 7.3% of India's female population and accounts for 11.5% of the total reported crimes against women.[1]
65% of Indian men believe women should tolerate violence in order to keep the family together, and women sometimes deserve to be beaten.[3] In January 2011, the International Men and Gender Equality Survey (IMAGES) Questionnaire reported that 24% of Indian men had committed sexual violence at some point during their lives.

The general public is also equally culpable for not coming to the rescue when women are attacked. In part, this is because of high-profiled incidents when those who tried to help victims were also attacked, even killed. However, these incidents should not deter the community from coming to the aid of victims, instead of looking the other way. They should also inform the police whenever they see such incidents happening. As responsible citizens, it is our paramount duty to assist the police in tackling crimes against women. There is also an urgent need to sensitize primary and secondary students to the evils of such crimes. Further, it is also the responsibility of every parent to teach their children to respect women.
